Learning Center Game: A picture says a thousand words

This game incorporates Art History, Math, Reading and Writing Skills.

When students finish projects early, or there is extra time in the beginning or end of the lesson, the Learning Center is an ideal place for students to occupy time, and learn as well as participate in activities. Ideally the games should incorporate the primary subject, as well as incorporate other subjects. They should be created to involve one or more students, and can be continued to play on an ongoing basis, and have adaptations for Special and Diverse learners.

In this game the students will roll the dice to pick a 'genre' of art (i.e. Landscaping, Modernism, Portraits, and Fantasy Art). They then make a collage using the materials supplied: magazine clippings, computer printouts, newspaper clippings, etc). Once they have finished the collage the students will then write a short story about their collage and share it with the group.

The collages are then laminated and stored in the box to be used later. Their are also pre-collaged cards with prompts on the back if time is limited, or if special needs students would like to participate and are unable to create a collage.
