Special Populations Workshop: Assistant Teacher

Katie led yesterday's lesson for the younger class. The students explored differemt creatures that live in the ocean as well as all the different textures.

In making their own ocean scenes', the students utilized a wide variety of multi media. To start, the students made and painted their own sea creatures. They then used crayons to add coral, sea weed and other ocean materials. Then they used a watercolor wash to paint the ocean. Using elmers glue and a paint brush the students made the ocean floor, complete with REAL SEA SHELLS!!! Once the ocean was dry, and the painted sea creatures, the students glued the creatures in the ocean. Some students embellished the creatures with different types of sequence and markers. The students really enjoyed working on this project!! It was a huge success!!

My role in this lesson was to assist Katie in classroom management, as well as guide the paraeducators along the different steps to the lesson plan.
